FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q:  Does everyone have to pay the application fee?
A: YES. Everyone must pay the application fee. Otherwise the application will not be processed. The fee is NON-REFUNDABLE.

Q: Who is eligible to apply for an elective at SKMCH&RC?
A: SKMCH&RC offers electives only to 5th year National and 4th year International medical students. See Criteria section.

Q: If I am not a 4th or 5th year medical student; can I apply for any other type of Elective?
A: No. SKMCH&RC only offers electives to 4th year and 5th year students depending on approval and departmental needs.

Q: I am a doctor and want to do my house job. What should I do?
A: We do not offer house jobs at SKMCH&RC

Q: I am a doctor and want to do an observer ship at SKMCH&RC. What should I do?
A: We offer observer ship to doctors as part of our electives program. Please fill out the observer ship form and send it to us.

Q: Does SKMCH&RC provide transport to students from out of town?
A: It is not our policy to offer transport to electives students. Upon arrival, all students use public transport to travel within Lahore. However, if you are staying in the city, you can arrange with the Hospital's employee transport service for pick and drop.

Q: Is accommodation available at SKMCH&RC for electives students from out of town?
A: We provide accommodation to the students, subject to availability. Please be sure to indicate on the application form if you require accommodation. This office will let you know if there are any rooms available. We do not offer any hospital transport for the students staying within the hospital premises. Public transport can be used for this purpose. Taxi is a safe mode for travel.

Q: What happens if I am accepted for the elective but cannot attend or need to get a new start date?
A: You will have to coordinate with the Electives Office and proceed accordingly. We advise all students to adhere to schedule as far as possible.

Q: What is the maximum duration for the elective?
A: Any student will be allowed a maximum of 8 weeks in year. We do not allow for extensions to this time period.

Q: How do I get my evaluation at the end of the elective period?
A: You will get an evaluation report at the end of your elective period. One copy will be given/sent to you and another copy will be sent to your Dean at your institution of study. In case of Unprofessional Behavior found during the elective period SKMCH&RC has the right to terminate the elective ship without assigning any reason to the Students / Institution.
