FELLOWSHIP IN CLINICAL ONCOLOGY

Introduction:

The hospital has a team of UK- and US-trained physicians who provide state of the art diagnostic, treatment and support facilities to its cancer patients. There is a multi-disciplinary approach to cancer treatment at the hospital. All cancer patients are treated by teams of medical, clinical, radiation and surgical oncologists. The hospital is, therefore, ideally suited to offer postgraduate training programmes in Medical Oncology, Clinical Oncology & Paediatric Oncology. We offer a unique learning experience that will prepare the selected candidates to become well trained, highly qualified oncologists of international standard. In addition, there is a strong emphasis on research, with a number of cancer treatment trials in progress at any time. Fellows will be exposed / trained to all the various aspects of medical, clinical & paediatric oncology including in- and out-patient management of complex cancer patients, management of oncologic emergencies, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, cancer radlogy, supportive care and research methodology. The fellowship training period is 3 years for Medical & Paediatric oncology. Clinical Oncology training will be over 5 years. Fellows who perform very well during their training may be offered an additional year of training at an affiliated institution in the US or the UK, which will be arranged by SKMCH & RC.

The hospital is committed to train medical and allied health professionals and is recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan for training in a number of disciplines including medical & radiation oncology.

We are offering a unique opportunity for comprehensive training in all aspects of non-surgical oncology. During the initial four years, trainees will be expected to successfully complete parts I and II of the FRCR exam, conducted by the Royal College of Radiologists, London, UK. In the final year, after completion of part II FRCR, site specialist training will be provided. On successful completion of training, a certificate will be issued by the institution confirming Completion of Specialist Training.

Enrollment Requirement:

  • MRCP (Internal Medicine) from UK or Republic of Ireland
  • Diplomat American Board of Internal Medicine
  • Candidates who are awaiting the results of MRCP Part II PACES are eligible to apply but appointment will be subject to confirmation of success.
