FELLOWSHIP IN MEDICAL ONCOLOGY

Introduction:

Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre is pleased to invite applications for Fellowship position in Medical Oncology.

The hospital has a team of UK and US trained physicians who provide state of the art diagnostic, treatment and support facilities to its cancer patients. There is a multi- disciplinary approach to cancer treatment at the hospital. All cancer patients are treated by teams of medical, clinical, radiation and surgical oncologists. The hospital is, therefore, ideally suited to offer postgraduate training programme in Medical Oncology. We offer a unique learning experience that will prepare the selected candidates to become well trained, highly qualified oncologists of international standard. In addition, there is a strong emphasis on research, with a number of cancer treatment trials in progress at any time. Fellows will be exposed / trained to all the various aspects of medical oncology including in- and out-patient management of complex cancer patients, management of oncologic emergencies, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, cancer radiology, supportive care and research methodology. The fellowship training period is 3 years.

Fellows who perform very well during their training may be offered an additional year of training at an affiliated institution in the US or the UK, which will be arranged by SKMCH & RC.

Training will involve rotation in different disciplines of medical oncology. As part of its mission statement, the hospital is committed to train medical and allied health professionals and is recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan for training in a number of disciplines. Close to 5000 new cancer patients are seen annually.

Fellows who successfully complete the required training and succeed in obtaining the FCPS in Medical Oncology will be eligible for appointment at a consultant level at SKMCH & RC.
