How Can You Donate
Zakat |  | You can give your Zakat to help poor patients in their struggle against cancer. As to date the Hospital has spent Rs. 5 billion (US $ 80 million) in providing state-of-the-art treatment facilities to patients from all over the country however would like to do a lot more and need your help. You can give your Zakat in cash and through cheques or bank draft.

The Sponsor-a-Cancer Patient Campaign allows you to
directly undertake the responsibility of treatment of
indigent cancer patients for whom the disease cancer is
the ultimate symbol of hopelessness. You can participate
in this campaign by sponsoring the treatment of cancer
patients and help to make the difference between life and
death.

New Clinical Tower
In Pakistan it is expected that about 150,000 people are fall victim to cancer every year.
SKMCH & RC being the only specialized cancer centre in the entire region with all the cancer
diagnostic & therapeutic facilities under one roof, is constantly pressurized to meet the
growing needs. However, our current capacity allows us to accept only a fraction of these
patients. This Rs. 350 million 11storied clinical tower will not only double our patient capacity
but also include a number of additional specialized units like a fully-equipped Bone Marrow
Transplant Unit and custom made Pediatric Unit. By contributing in this venture you will enable
us to extend state-of-the-art treatment facilities to more and more cancer patients.

Karachi Diagnostic Centre
In its effort to extend its services to other parts of the country the Shaukat Khanum
Memorial Trust is opening a Diagnostic Centre in Karachi. This Rs. 170 million project will
include state-of-the-art Diagnostic services, a Walk-in-Clinic to facilitate in the screening
and early detection of cancer, a Chemotherapy Bay and a Pathology Collection Centre.

In line with the mission statement, SKMCH & RC strives to remain at the cutting edge of
technology to be able to provide the highest quality modern method of care to patients. The
two MRI machines, four CT scanners [two of them 64-slice machines], three radiation machines
[including one IMRT capable machine] are amongst some of the modern equipment that the Hospital
has acquired over the years. A cyclotron and PET CT system is also to be in placed this year. The
Hospital aims to acquire more medical equipment during the year 2008 and hence keep abreast with
some of the best cancer centres of the world.
