Facilities & ServicesThe Department of Clinical Radiology at SKMCH&RC is equipped with the state of art equipment, which includes 1.5 Tesla & Open MRI units, 64 slice CT scanners, Interventional Radiology Suite, Digital Mammography with stereotactic biopsy facility, Color Doppler ultrasound and CT Bone Densitometery. Our CT/PET Suite should be functional by July 2009. The cyclotron is already in use. We support clinicians in the management of patients with the entire spectrum of Radiological imaging. The Radiology Department has full time Consultant Radiologists, Fellows, Resident Doctors, Technologists, Transcriptionists, Unit Coordinators and other support staff. Yearly, we perform more than 100,000 procedures.
HIS/RIS are implemented. Images can be viewed on standard office desktop computers or designated workstations in the clinics.
The spectrum of available facilities includes:
- Radiography
- Ultrasound
- 2D and 3D units, Gray Scale and Color Doppler
- Mammography
- Digital - CR/FFDM
- Stereotactic biopsies
- CT
- Two 64-channel units, 4-channel and Single Channel units
- CT Scans with spiral imaging [4th generation scanner from Siemens]
- 3D CT, CT angiography, cardiac CT, all CT biopsies and drainage procedures.
- MRI
- 1.5T unit
- .35T open MR unit
- Interventional Radiology
- Total body intervention is offered including Neuro-Intervention, Hepatobiliary procedures, Urology Intervention, other non-Vascular and Vascular Procedures. We offer alcohol injection, radiofrequency ablation and TACE to patients with Heptacellular Carcinoma.
- Molecular imaging
- Time of Flight 16 slice CT PET.
Training Our Radiology Resident Training is affiliated with the CPSP. The department is associated with the University of Bradford and running a B.Sc. (Hons) in Medical Imaging programme which started in 2007.
